Are you caring for a partner, relative or friend who needs your help with everyday living? We offer free information and support on all aspects of your caring role.

Carers Week

This year’s Carers Week 7-13 June the theme is ‘Make Caring Visible and Valued’ and to support this national campaign Furness Carers will be doing the following event:

Monday 7th to Friday 11th June – Furness Carers Information Stand at Tesco, Cornerhouse Park, Hindpool Road, Barrow-in-Furness.

Tuesday 1st June – Young Carers Fun Day at Barrow Raiders Rugby League Club (note this is a week early due to fitting in with half-term).

Wednesday 9th June – Carer Champion Training, this is to raise awareness of the support service for Carers, and help identify unpaid Carers for staff from organisations including Adult and Children’s Services, GP Practice staff, Mental Health Services, members of the local ICC (Integrated Care Communities) and local businesses.

Thursday 10th June – Online Carers Café and Yoga Session

Friday 11th June – Face-to-face Carers Café at Furness Carers, Hindpool Community Centre, Nelson Street, Barrow-in-Furness.

Saturday 12th June – our Carers Health Co-ordination Worker, Sylvia on CANDO FM with Memories in Music part of the Dignity in Dementia Radio Show

Are you a Carer?

Carers look after family, partners or friends in need of help because they are ill, frail or have disability. The care they provide is unpaid.

How Can Furness Carers Help?

We can provide free and confidential information and support to Carers of all ages on all issues related to the caring role.

We recognise the responsibilities of being a Carer can change Carers’ lives. We aim to help Carers’ maintain their own health and wellbeing, finances, employment, education, training, leisure and social life.

Furness Carers is aware of the physical, mental and emotional demands involved in caring.

Our Free Support Services Include:

A Friendly “Listening Ear”, Individual Support, Carers Groups, Drop-in Facilities, Carers Cafés, Social/Leisure Activities, Voluntary Sitting Services and Carers Emergency Card.
