Furness Carers Association

  

- is a non-profit making Organisation registered with the Charity Commissioners
- is managed by an Executive Committee which includes CARERS as members
- works with Cumbria Social Services, Morecambe Bay Health Authority and other Agencies
- was established to support Carers living within the Furness area
- the Association is a vital link to Information, Support and Practical Services, covering all aspects of the caring role.

Are you a Carer?

YES - If you are looking after an elderly, ill or disabled relative or friend, (child or adult) who cannot manage at home without help.

That friend or relative may live in the same house or live separately. They may be a husband, grandparent, brother, sister, aunt, uncle or neighbour.

Furness Carers Association is dedicated to providing high quality support & services to Carers who are looking after someone who cannot manage at home without help.

 

Home Support Services

The Association is aware of the time and energy absorbed by the physical demands of caring and the emotional demands involved. The Association has developed a range of practical services offering flexibility and choice to ensure Carers receive support specifically tailored to their own individual needs.

* Washing and personal hygiene?

Young Carers Project

The Young Carers Project supports Children and Young People aged 15-18 years old who are caring for someone in the family who is ill, disabled, elderly or with drug / alcohol problems. Caring tasks can range from general household chores to full personal care.

Voluntary Services

Our Voluntary Services assist Carers by giving them a break from their daily routine, allowing some free time for themselves, or undertaking requested tasks which a Carer cannot find time to do. If you feel you may require a Voluntary Service for someone you care for or are interested in becoming a Volunteer then please contact our Volunteer Services Co-ordinator on Tel: 01229 822822 or 832123

 

Staff

* Training is provided for both Volunteers and Home Support Workers who came from a variety of backgrounds, and are chosen for their reliability, caring qualities and practical abilities.
* Where possible, Volunteers and Home Support Workers are matched to suit the needs of the Carer and the person being cared for.
* Quality Standards / Complaints Procedures in operation.

 

Drop in Centres

Visit our Charity Shops and Drop-in Centres for information, advice, a friendly chat and a 'cuppa'. Donations of furniture and bric-a-brac etc are always welcome. Tel: 01229 468136 or 588568

 

Carelink Alarms

A 24 hour Emergency Alarm Service which enables the 'cared for', elderly or disabled to live independently in their own home. For further details Telephone 01229 822822
